Basseterre (West Indies), Sep 5: Imran Tahir led Guyana Amazon Warriors posted a mammoth 266/7 on board and then walked away comfortably with a 40-run victory against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the 7th match of the 2024 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL), here.
Warriors, the defending champions won their second consecutive match in as many games. Electing to bat first on Wednesday, with dashing Shi's 39-ball 91, Warriors scored 266/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
The 266/7 total by Warriors is just one run less than the highest ever total in CPL history, which was scored by Trinbago Knight Riders against the Jamaica Tallawahs in 2019.
Chasing 268 to win, Patriots fought valiantly, But fell short by 40 runs. Patriots captain Andre Fletcher led by example at the top of the order by compiling 81 off 33 balls. But after his dismissal, his team lost momentum and also lost the match. They were all out for 226 in 18 overs.
