Kendrapara, Aug 31: Days after a woman was dragged and killed by crocodile in Bari area of Jajpur district, another man was dragged by an alligator in Rajnagar area of Kendrapara district on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Bhaskar Rout, a cowherd of Rajpur village of the district.
According to the sources, the incident occurred when Bhaskar was grazing his buffaloes on the Brahmani River bed. The crocodile dragged him to the dip water.
This is the fifth incident of crocodile attack in the past three months.
On August 16 August, a woman named Jyotsna Jena of Patapur area under Bari block of Jajpur district was dragged and killed by a crocodile. The incident occurred while Jena had gone to Birupa River to wash clothes. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
On July 28, an elderly man identified as Amulya Das from Pattamundai of Kendrapara district was killed in a crocodile attack in Brahmani River.
On June 29, another elderly man identified as Gangadhar Tarai of Gagaradaha village was dragged by a crocodile.
One Ashutosh Acharya, a Class 5 student of Nimpur village under Pattamundai block in Kendrapara district, was allegedly dragged and killed by a crocodile on June 14.
Similarly, on June 21, a woman, identified as Sita Das from Hatiagadi village under Rajnagar block in the district fell victim to a similar attack in the district.
