Varanasi, March 1: Swami Avimukteshwaranand, the Shankaracharya, has declared plans for a march to Lucknow on March 11, citing a lack of response from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding concerns over cow protection.

Addressing the media in Varanasi, Swami Avimukteshwaranand stated, “We have received no communication from Yogi Adityanath, nor any indication that he is willing to take action for the protection of Gomata. In light of this, we have decided to proceed with our march to Lucknow on March 11. We still have 10 days—if action can be taken, let it be done.”

The seer also mentioned that his followers would observe the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on March 6, whom he praised as a champion of cow and Brahmin protection.

Highlighting the deep religious importance of cow protection, Swami Avimukteshwaranand explained that in the Sanatan tradition, Brahmins and cows are seen as inseparable entities. “Brahmins and cows are not separate—they are one. The Brahmin and the cow share the same lineage. A Yajna is incomplete without both: the Brahmin, with the mantra, and the cow, with the ghee, enabling the Havan. It is only when both come together that the Yajna of Sanatan Dharma can progress,” he said.

Regarding the upcoming march, the seer clarified that no formal organizational support would be provided. “We are not an organization that can mobilize people with buses, vehicles, or meals. We are making a heartfelt appeal. Those who wish to come, at their own expense, for the sake of Gomata, are welcome,” he explained.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand described the march as a “historic moment,” expressing hope that people would spontaneously come forward to support the cause. “This is a moment of truth, where people will contribute voluntarily, from their own resources, for the protection of Gomata,” he added.
