Jharsuguda, Feb 4: In a gruesome incident, a couple was stabbed near the Jharsuguda station in Odisha on Wednesday evening.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

The victims are supposedly nomads & waste pickers, said sources.

According to report, the couple who used to pick used bottles and other trashes from near the Jharsuguda Railway Station, was suddenly stabbed by a miscreant. As a result, the couple sustained critical injuries in their bodies.

Responding to the scream, locals rushed them to the DHH, Jharsuguda for resuscitation. However, woman died on the way to hospital.

The man’s health is reported to be critical.

The GRP, on being informed seized the body and initiated an investigation into the matter.

A case was registered in this connection with the GRP. The reason behind the murder is yet under investigation.
