Bhubaneswar, November 10: The by-election for the Nuapada Assembly seat in Odisha, set to take place tomorrow, will be held under comprehensive security arrangements, with no threat from Naxals anticipated, said Eric Gilbert Jose, Commandant of the CRPF's 216th Battalion.

In a statement to the media today, Commandant Jose assured that all necessary security arrangements have been made to safeguard the polling stations.

He further added that Naxals are not expected to interfere with the electoral process. "We have established robust security measures around the polling booths. Our forces have a firm grip on the region, and personnel are stationed at every booth. Additionally, helicopters are being used to transport polling parties to sensitive areas," he said.

Jose further said that sensitive booths have been identified and are under constant surveillance to ensure a smooth election process. "Residents are going about their daily activities without fear, and we are confident they will turn out to vote. Our primary goal is to neutralize any potential threat from Naxals, and we are fully prepared to address any challenges," he stated.

The by-election was necessitated following the unfortunate demise of Rajendra Dholakia, the sitting Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA, on September 8.
