Boudh, Nov 1: The ex- In-charge Area Manager at MARKFED, Boudh, Bhuban Mohan Dash who had been dismissed from his service, has been found guilty in a case prosecuted by the Odisha Vigilance, under Special Judge Vigilance Phulbani TR No.20/2013.

He was convicted on charges of misappropriating Rs 9.66 Lakh concerning the procurement of Niger and Turmeric seeds.
The Special Judge has pronounced a sentence of three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. In case of failure to pay the fine, an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment has been mandated for the offense under Section 409 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Furthermore, the Court has ordered a four-year rigorous imprisonment term along with a fine of Rs 10,000 for the offense under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
In the case of non-payment of the fine, another six months of rigorous imprisonment is to be served. It is important to note that both sentences are to be served concurrently.
As a result of this judgment, Bhuban Mohan Dash, the convicted individual, has been remanded to jail custody to commence serving his sentence.
