Delhi, August 23: A couple was held in Delhi on Saturday for duping scores of youths across the country promising them key roles in films and serials produced by their company.
By posing as TV serial producers and directors, the couple had allegedly fooled many aspirants promising them chances in their productions.
The accused persons have been identified as Tarun Shekhar Sharma (32)a resident of Lucknow, and Asha Singh alias Bhawna(29),his spouse.
The accused are linked to more than 20 complaints of a similar nature and modus operandi, DCP (southwest) Amit Goel said.
According to the complaints registered yet, the couple lured their targets through social media platforms on the pretext of giving them roles in popular TV serials and OTT shows.
In the latest case registered by the Police on the complaint of a girl, she was duped of Rs 24 lakh.
During investigation, Police tracked the accused and arrested them from Bengaluru.
Seven mobile phones, 10 SIM cards, 15 bank cheque books and passbooks, eight ATM cards and a pair of gold earrings were seized from their possession during the interception.
