Balasore, March 20:The day after the forest officials nabbed two poachers from the Kuldiha Wildlife sanctuary in Odisha’s Balasore district, police have busted a country gun making unit in a bordering village of the core biosphere on Wednesday.
One, suspected to be the mastermind of the arm- making unit, was held by the Nilagiri police. A number of guns and a huge cache of gun making accessories were recovered from the Malibanian village.
The accused, identified as Jagabandhu Singh was taken into custody on the charges of arm making and supplying them to poachers.
Nilagiri SDPO Sarat Kumar Upadhyay said, a team of police conducted an instant raid on the gun making unit, on the basis of a tip off from the Sanctuary sleuths.
During the raid, illegally made country guns, gunpowder and gun-making tools and machinery were seized.
Interrogation to the accused is underway to unearth the whole gun supply chain and the receiver , Upadhya added.
