Bhubaneswar, March 8: Reinforcing its commitment to diversity, inclusion and women empowerment, Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs celebrated the ‘Nua Arambha – New Beginning’ initiative on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The programme aims to support women who wish to restart their professional journey after a career break, enabling them to re-enter the workforce with renewed confidence and opportunities for growth.
Now in its second season, the initiative continues to create meaningful opportunities for women professionals to restart their careers and contribute to the power distribution sector in Odisha. It reflects Tata Power Odisha DISCOMs’ broader commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture that encourages women to pursue their professional aspirations while balancing personal responsibilities. Through Nua Arambha, the organisation is creating pathways for talented women professionals to begin their second careers and contribute meaningfully to the power distribution sector in Odisha.
As part of the initiative, seven women professionals have been onboarded across different roles and professional profiles in the four Odisha DISCOMs, marking an important step towards strengthening gender diversity within the organisation. The programme recognises their determination and provides them with the platform and support needed to confidently restart their careers.
The event also served as a platform to acknowledge the resilience and commitment of these women professionals while inspiring more women to take the step towards returning to the workforce.
The programme was graced by Dr. Monica Singhania, Professor, Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi, and Director on the Boards of TPNODL and TPWODL; Gajanan Kale, Chief – Odisha Distribution Business; Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL; and Shyam Sunder Choudhury, Chief BHR, along with members of the senior leadership team of the Odisha DISCOMs.
Speaking on the occasion, Gajanan Kale, Chief – Odisha Distribution Business, Tata Power, said, “At Tata Power, we strongly believe that diversity and inclusion are key drivers of organisational growth and innovation. Through initiatives like ‘Nua Arambha’, we aim to provide women professionals with the opportunity and confidence to restart their careers and contribute meaningfully to the organisation and society. Their resilience and determination inspire us to continue building a workplace that supports equal opportunities and empowers women at every stage of their professional journey.”
Dr. Monica Singhania appreciated the resilience and determination of the women professionals who have chosen to re-enter the workforce and commended Odisha DISCOMs’ commitment to building an environment that supports women’s professional growth, learning and leadership.
Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs continue to take meaningful steps towards empowering women, promoting gender diversity, and building a progressive and inclusive workforce that contributes to the sustainable growth of the power distribution sector in the state.
The Nua Arambha initiative echoes the spirit of the International Women’s Day 2026 theme, “Give to Gain,” which highlights the power of creating opportunities and support systems for women to thrive. By enabling women professionals to restart their careers and contribute their expertise, the organisation reinforces the belief that when women are given equal opportunities, encouragement, and resources, organisations and society at large gain through greater innovation, diversity, and inclusive growth.
