Angul, Mar 7: A man was killed after being attacked by an elephant while venturing into a forest near Nandapur Panchayat’s Hinsaloi village. The deceased has been identified as Narottam Matia.

According to local reports, Narottam went into the nearby forest yesterday and failed to return home. Concerned family members and villagers began searching for him, and at around 1 AM, he was found lying injured near the forest. He was immediately rescued with the help of locals and taken to Angul District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Forest department officials and police have reached the site and initiated an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Narottam’s death was caused by an elephant attack.

The incident has sparked anxiety among the local population, highlighting the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in the region.
