Balakati, Nov 4: The Congress will field its own candidate in Jayadev Assembly constituency this time. The candidature of party candidate Sukanta Tiadi was rejected in 2019 elections due to errors in his nomination papers.
Besides, Congress did not field candidate in Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat in 2019 due to alliance and CPM candidate Janardana Pati unsuccesfully contested the election.
This time five Congress aspirants have started working at grsroots level to get party ticket. Benudhar Bhoi and Jayanta Bhoi are two frontrunners for the party ticket. Benudhar was Congress candidate in 2014 and Jayant was BSP candidate in 2009.
Besides, Artatrana Kandi, Pramod Bhoi, Keshab Chandra Behera and two women aspirants Nalini Behera, Sulochana Bhoi are lobbying this time for the party ticket.
On the other hand, BJD's Jayadev MLA Arabinda Dhali is facing party infighting. It is reported that the BJD is going to replace Dhali in Jayadev.
The BJP is in search of a new candidate in Jayadev after demise of party candidate Narendra Kumar Nayak.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi is strengthening party organisation visiting all villages. Siba Mallick, Basant Nayak, Maguni Sethi, Jagannath Behera and Satyapriya Behera are the aspirants for party ticket in 2024.
