Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Ajaya Kumar Mohanty, former Junior Diarist of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, Bhubaneswar, has been convicted in a bribery case by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

Mohanty, who has since retired, was chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The case pertained to his demand and acceptance of a bribe from a person in return for providing assistance in the publication of a withheld examination result of the person’s relative.

After completion of trial, the Vigilance Court found him guilty and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years along with a fine.

Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for initiation of proceedings for stoppage of pension of Sri Mohanty in accordance with rules.
