Puri, Nov 7: The Congress is mulling to field veteran leader and former state president Prasad Harichandan from Puri Lok Sabha seat in 2024 after 2019 candidate Satya Prakash Nayak quit the party.
The party will finalise its candidates for all Assembly constituencies of Puri district by next month, according to party sources.
The Puri Congress has already shortlisted three to five aspirants from every asssembly constituency and the list will be sent to the Pradesh Congress Committee by November 20.
While Uma Ballav Rath is the first runner for Puri Assembly constituency, Sujit Mohapatra, Binayak Das Mohapatra, Rajesh Mishra and Biswanath Dash are in ticket race for the seat.
Prasad Harchandan's brother Pradip is party's first choice for Satyabadi in his absence.
After untimely death of Judhistir Samantaray, last by-poll candidate Biswakesan Harichandan and Nishikanta Mishra are two front runners for Pipili.
Similarly, Jatani MLA and veteran Congress leader Sura Routray's son Sidharth Routray and 2019 candidate Biswa Mohanty are lobbying for party ticket in Nimapada.
Biswabhusan Das, who unsuccessfully contested the 2019 election, is the first choice for Kakatpur constituency and district Congress president Jaya Narayan Patnaik is interested to fight in Brahmagiri.
