Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: A spell of mild cold is expected to return to parts of Odisha, with night temperatures likely to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days, according to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre. The drop in temperature is expected to be temporary, with night temperatures likely to rise slightly again in the subsequent three days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an extended weather outlook for the next two weeks. As per the forecast, night temperatures across eastern India may remain slightly below normal till the 19th, indicating continued mild cold conditions in Odisha during this period.

Several places across the state have already recorded a noticeable dip in night temperatures. On Wednesday night, G. Udayagiri reported the lowest minimum temperature at 7.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Semiliguda at 9.1 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures remained below 15 degrees Celsius in many locations, including Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Keonjhar, Bhawanipatna, Talcher, Balangir, Koraput, Phulbani, Malkangiri, Daringbadi, Jajpur, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Rourkela.

Day temperatures across the state remained largely around 31 degrees Celsius. The IMD has also forecast light to moderate fog in several areas until the 9th.
