Rourkela, Jan 12: Two passengers injured in the recent aircraft crash in Sundargarh district’s Rourkela City have been airlifted to Mumbai for advanced medical treatment, confirmed the Odisha State Government on Sunday.

Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Commerce & Transport Department, stated that the injured passengers were shifted voluntarily to Mumbai to access better medical facilities. "The Odisha government is fully prepared to provide all necessary assistance to those affected by the incident, should the need arise," she said.

“The State government is ready to extend every possible support. If required, other injured patients undergoing treatment may also be airlifted,” she added.

Official sources have confirmed that medical teams are closely monitoring the condition of the injured passengers. Coordinations with hospitals are being maintained to ensure uninterrupted medical care.

The tragic incident has garnered the attention of senior officials, with authorities reviewing the situation to ensure the proper care of the injured and the smooth handling of medical requirements.

The government has assured the public that no effort will be spared in providing timely medical care and logistical support to those affected. Further updates regarding the crash incident and treatment progress are awaited as officials continue to assess the situation.

Earlier today, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) commenced an on-site investigation into the chartered aircraft accident that occurred at Jalda in Rourkela. Meanwhile, the Odisha government reiterated that providing the best possible medical care to the injured remains its top priority.
