Bhubaneswar, Sept 23: With just a few days left for Durga Puja, the Commissionerate Police is ramping up efforts to ensure a crime-free environment in the state capital and facilitate smooth celebrations.
Police officials are actively collaborating with various puja committee members to enhance the overall experience for devotees. To maintain law and order and prevent traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar, a coordination meeting was held with six puja committees at the Bomikhal puja pandal in Ward No. 31 of the BMC.

Zone-4 ACP Manas Kumar Deo and Laxmisagar IIC P. Shyam Sagar addressed essential topics such as crowd management and traffic control around key puja venues, including Old Station Bazaar, Cuttack Road, and Jharpada.
The meeting underscored the significance of effective traffic management and crowd control to ensure a seamless flow for devotees. Special attention was given to potential threats from anti-socials, such as chain snatchers and pickpocketers.

Additionally, more police personnel will be deployed at puja pandals, with 24-hour surveillance in place. Officers will also monitor CCTV cameras to bolster security throughout the festivities. The puja committees have made several recommendations to the police to enhance safety and coordination during the celebrations.
