Commercial LPG, ATF prices hiked; domestic LPG unchanged

New Delhi, Oct 1: State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the prices of commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) from Thursday, following a rise in international benchmark prices.

The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹62.50. This comes after a ₹9.50 hike in September. Commercial LPG prices had earlier been cut by ₹192 in August and ₹183.50 in July.

Meanwhile, ATF prices have gone up by ₹16 per litre, from ₹121 to ₹137 per litre for domestic airlines. ATF can account for up to 40% of an airline's operating costs, making fuel prices a major component of airline expenses.

Commercial LPG prices had reached a record high in June amid disruptions to global energy supplies and elevated international prices. Between February and June, the price of a 19-kg cylinder had increased by ₹1,373, from ₹1,740.50 to ₹3,113.50, before declining in July and August.

However, there is no change in domestic LPG prices, which remain at ₹942 per cylinder. Domestic LPG prices had increased by ₹89 per cylinder between March and June amid supply disruptions linked to the West Asia crisis and higher global energy prices.

The latest revisions are based on international benchmark prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. LPG and ATF prices are revised on the first day of every month and may vary across states due to local taxes such as VAT.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged after their earlier revision in May.
