Bhubaneswar, March 15: The season’s first Nor’wester hit several parts of Odisha on Sunday.

It wreaked fury in Mayurbhanj district this evening along with a mild- effect in some other parts of the state.

Mayurbhanj was the worst affected district as heavy rain lashed a number of areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Strong winds and heavy rain damaged several houses in Kiapanapashi area. The storm uprooted electric poles and large trees, leaving at least 10 people injured.

According to report, an auto rickshaw was blown into a pond for the high wind, and several thatched houses in Kanakada village under Karanjia block were damaged.

Two people were reportedly killed and 28 injured in rain-related incidents across the state.

Powerful supply in affected areas was severely disrupted and some roads got blocked with uprooted trees.
