Keonjhar, Oct 2: In an odd example of violence, a Class II officer in Odisha’s Keonjhar, allegedly killed his wife over marital discord on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Debi Prasad Jena, Assistant Block Development Officer(ABDO), Banta in the Bhadrak district.

The harrowing incident took place at Danra village under the Nandipada police limit in the Keonjhar district.

According to reports, Jena’s wife was preparing for Maha-Dasami and Sudasa Brat rituals in the morning. Meanwhile, a verbal duel broke out with her partner, over a silly matter that took a violent turn later. Agrieved Jena axed his wife mercilessly and fled the scene.

Respnding to the woman’s scream, neighbors rushed to the spot, recovered her in an unconscious state  from a pool of blood and rushed to the Salanian Hospital for resuscitation. As her condition was reported critical, she was reffered to the Bhadrak DHH. However,she was received dead in the health facilities.

On being informed, the Nandipada Police seized the body and rushed to the spot to nab the accused hubby but in vain.

A manhunt is underway to reach at the accused.A murder case has been registered and further investigation to ascertain the precise cause behind the gruesome violence, is underway said the police.
