Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to inaugurate Odisha’s second 100-bedded cancer hospital at Bargarh's Khedopali District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on Tuesday. The preparations for the opening of the 5-storey cancer hospital have already been completed.
The inauguration of this hospital marks a significant milestone as it will offer free treatment facilities to cancer patients in their hometown. Additionally, it will extend its services to thousands of people from neighboring Chhattisgarh, providing much-needed treatment facilities.
The state government has invested Rs 106 crore in the construction of this 100-bed cancer hospital. Staffed with two radio oncologists, two medical oncologists, 8 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs), as well as specialists in O&G, ENT, surgery, and medicine, along with radiotherapy technicians, pharmacists, nursing officers, attendants, and support staff, the hospital is well-equipped to cater to the needs of patients.
With the establishment of this hospital, residents of Bargarh and neighboring regions will no longer have to travel long distant cities like Delhi, Mumbai, or Hyderabad, and bear significant expenses for cancer treatment. The inauguration of this cancer hospital fulfills the long-awaited aspiration of the people of Bargarh and western Odisha to access cancer treatment within their vicinity.
