Nabarangpur, Oct 13: In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old boy died of electrocution while grazing cows near his village in Chandahandi block of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Abhiram Jani (12) and the incident has been reported from Paujhuri village under Patakhalia Panchayat in Chandahandi.

According to reports, an electric wire used to draw water from a nearby river for irrigating a maize field was found lying on the ground when Abhiram accidentally stepped on the live wire and was instantly electrocuted.

Following the incident, Abhiram’s uncle Butu Jani filed a complaint at the Chandahandi police station. The police promptly arrived at the scene, launched an investigation, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination at the Chandahandi Community Health Centre (CHC).

Meanwhile, the electricity department also lodged a separate complaint with the police regarding the incident.
