Odisha: CM Mohan Majhi to review flood situation in Malkangiri today

Majhi will travel to the district by helicopter from Bhubaneswar and return to the city after reviewing the situation

Bhubaneswar, Sept 12: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will visit Malkangiri today to review the damage caused by flash floods due to heavy rainfall in the district. Majhi will be accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.

Severe flooding in Malkangiri was caused by incessant rains from a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. The CM will visit to review the damage and evaluate the ongoing response efforts in the district.

Majhi will travel to the district by helicopter from Bhubaneswar and return to the city after reviewing the situation.

Worth mentioning, earlier the state government had appointed two senior officials to monitor the flood situation in Malkangiri. Besides, the SRC and the Revenue Minister were also monitoring the situation.

Over 1,800 people had to be shifted to safer places as storm water submerged roads and bridges, inundating may areas in the district.

The incessant rainfall led to submergence of low-lying bridges at Pangam, MV-7, Potteru, MV-90, Kangrukonda on NH-326 and caused massive damage in several places in the district. The situation is gradually improving,
