Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: In order to accord permanent ownership to the rayati prajas(people),Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday handed over Records of Rights(RORs) to at least 10000 sikkim land holders across 26 districts of the state.
With favourable amendments in Odisha Land Amendment Rules- 1960, the Odisha Revenue department provided permanent land ownership to the Sikkim land holders by slight reform in it to facilitate ownership transfer of the sikkim, Gramakantam or Porambaku species of land in 2009.
While distributing RORs to the beneficiaries virtually, Naveen said Odisha government had initiated phenomenal reforms in the Odisha ROR Rules to settle all disputes and backlogs relating to consolidation, settlement and sikkim kissams of lands, impeding from 1977.
With the interventions of 5T initiatives, the ownership of the Gramakantam or Porambaku lands, in Ganjam was resolved for the first time whereas settlement of records related to the Sikkim lands were dealt with an immediate effect.
Now the RORs have delivered permanent ownership of the lands to the beneficiaries who used to utilize the land from years ago. With the land rights,the lands could be sold out, pledged, transferred or alienated as per the needs of the land holders, the CM added.
Among others, Chairman 5T V K Pandian and Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management Sudam Marndi were present on the ocassion.
