Rayagada, Dec 2: In an unprecedented incident, a woman in Odisha’s Rayagada district reportedly saved her life from the face of a Royal Bengal Tiger by climbing up a tree.
The incident took place on Saturday at the Ghatan village, situated on the Rayagada-Kandhamal border.
Sources said the woman was harvesting til crop on his field. Meanwhile, she sighted a Royal Bengal tiger chasing her with tremendous roar. Getting no way out she got up a tree and saved her life. She alerted the locals as the tiger waited for hours to prey on her.Subsequently, locals rushed to the spot, chased the tiger and rescued the woman from the tree.
On being informed, forest officials took stock of the matter and deployed a squad of forest officials to watch on the straying animal. The Range Officer asked the people not to venture into the forest till the tiger is spotted. However, a panic was wreaked in the locality followings the incident.
