Bhubaneswar, July 31: In a tragic incident, a Class-IX student allegedly committed suicide in his hostel bathroom in Padmapur locality Odisha’s Bargarh district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Prince Kumbhar, a resident of Jhankarapali village under Melachamunda police limits in the district.
As per reports, Prince was a resident of the Anwesa hostel where he was pursuing his education.
The hostel superintendent reported that after having dinner last night, Prince went to his room and then locked himself in the hostel bathroom. Despite repeated knockings by his friends, he did not respond. The hostel authorities eventually broke open the bathroom door and found him hanging.
Thereafter, he was immediately rescued and rushed to Padmapur Sub-divisional Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and took stock of the situation. The cops also seized his body and sent it for post-mortem.
Though the exact reason behind Prince’s death is yet to be ascertained, his family members have alleged that he did not commit suicide but was murdered.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
