Chikiti Hooch tragedy: Odisha govt. orders Board of Revenue to conduct inquiry

Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: The Odisha government has ordered an inquiry by the Member, Board of Revenue to investigate the causes of the tragedy, identify those responsible, and recommend measures to prevent future incidents.

At least five people died after consuming illicit country liquor in the Chikiti Police Station area of Ganjam district on August 1, 2024. 

The inquiry report is expected to be submitted within two months from the date of publication.

This incident highlights the dangers of consuming illicit liquor and the need for strict enforcement against illegal liquor operations.
