Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participates in PM-KISAN scheme release event & tree plantation drive in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) in Bhubaneswar today to take part in a state-level event marking the release of the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme. The event, held at the CIFA campus, also featured a tree plantation drive as part of the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (One Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign.

The PM-KISAN scheme, a flagship initiative of the central government, provides financial assistance to eligible farming families across India. The CIFA event served as the focal point for Odisha, with the main ceremony being a live-streamed address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi. Over 500 farmers from across the state attended, engaging with dignitaries and agricultural experts.

During his visit, Chief Minister Majhi spoke directly with farmers, emphasizing the state government's ongoing commitment to their welfare. He also highlighted the significance of adopting modern, scientific farming practices to increase agricultural productivity and improve farmers’ incomes. Additionally, he discussed various government schemes designed to assist the agricultural sector and rural communities.

A notable feature of the event was the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched by the Prime Minister on World Environment Day. This initiative encourages citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers, contributing to both environmental conservation and personal tribute. Chief Minister Majhi actively participated in the plantation drive, planting saplings at the CIFA campus.

The event not only showcased the government's efforts to provide financial support to farmers but also underscored the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and environmental protection. The Chief Minister's presence, along with other dignitaries, highlighted the collaborative efforts of both central and state governments to strengthen the agricultural sector and create a greener, more prosperous future for Odisha.
