​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: The Odisha government on Wednesday declared 4 new NACs and upgraded Puri Municipality to a Municipal Corporation.

The Housing and Urban Development Department issued a notification in this connection today.

The new NACs include Loisingha in Bolangir district, Chandikhole in Jajpur district, Jashipur in Mayurbhanj district and Basta in Balasore district.

The government has also issued a draft notification for the expansion of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation limits.

This decision was announced earlier by the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on August 31 during celebration of state-level Local Self-Government Day, based on which formal notification was issued today.

The notification read formation of the Puri Municipal Corporation will pave the way for large-scale infrastructure development and the creation of a well-planned urban area encompassing the Shrine and its surrounding areas.
