Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: A central team will visit Odisha from December 11 to December 13 for a spot assessment of damages caused due to cyclonic storm Jawad. The team led by Joint Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs Saurav Ray will carry out assessment in six districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack and Kendrapara. Heavy rainfall triggered by cyclone Jawad has caused a large-scale damage to standing paddy and other crops in various coastal districts of Odisha. Revenue & Disaster Management Department on Monday had directed Collectors to submit the assessment report on losses suffered to the standing crop in their respective districts due to heavy rainfall triggered by the cyclone. Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena had also informed that assessment of crop loss caused by cyclone-induced rainfall will be done within a week.
