Central Railway suspends platform ticket sales amid festive rush

Mumbai, October 27: In preparation for the festive rush, Central Railway has announced temporary restrictions on platform ticket sales at key stations, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Kalyan, Pune, and Nagpur. The move, effective immediately through November 8, 2024, aims to control crowding and streamline passenger flow during Diwali and Chhath Puja.

According to a statement, the restriction exempts senior citizens and individuals with medical needs, ensuring essential access while encouraging others to plan their travels accordingly. Central Railway has requested the public’s cooperation in adhering to these temporary measures for a safer, smoother festive season travel experience.
