Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 18: Over 3 crore devotees have taken a holy dip during the ongoing Magh Mela on Mauni Amavasya in Sangam, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh

Divisional Commissioner Soumya Agarwal confirmed this.

Despite continuous crowds at the ghats, the situation remains normal in the city. Agarwal also mentioned the ongoing flow of pilgrims at the ghats, with arrangements being well-managed.

On this auspicious occasion, flower petals were showered from a helicopter onto the devotees gathered at the Sangam for the ritual bath. Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma reported that the holy dip began at midnight and continued despite heavy fog. By noon, more than 3 crore devotees had taken the bath.

Verma assured that the Mela is being conducted in an organized manner with heightened security, involving various agencies like police, Jal Police, and NDRF, to ensure the safety of all pilgrims. He also noted that pilgrims are satisfied with the facilities provided.
