Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: Senior IAS Officer Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee assumed the charge of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS),  Odisha Revenue & Disaster Management Department on Friday.

Dr. Padhee, who previously served as the ACS for Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department, is widely regarded as an upright and empathetic administrator.

Dr.Padhee, Principal Secretary to government of Odisha, was relieved of his duty from the Agriculture Department on Thursday.

Dr. Padhee who was working as the Principal Secretary, Agriculture, was recently transferred as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Revenue & Disaster Management Department.

In pursuance to the notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department, Dr. Padhee submitted his relieve letter to the Odisha Chief Secretary yesterday, in order to assume his new office, as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Revenue & Disaster Management.

Worth mentioning, during Dr. Padhee’s tenure in the Odisha Agriculture Department, he focused on reviving forgotten foods, indigenous rice & millet varieties and retrieved traditional knowledge systems in agricultural practices, enticing technology & innovation in the field.

He also strengthened Odisha’s stance as a leader in sustainable agriculture up-scaling Odisha as one among the rice & foodstuff sufficient states, with his own expertise, innovation and research.

A farm scientist from the OUAT, Dr. Padhee holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. His academic background played a crucial role in shaping policy interventions that were both technically practicable and farmer-centric. During his tenure, the Department also introduced several first-of-their-kind institutional innovations, including the Climate Resilience Cell, the Gender Responsive Cell and the Krushi Samiksha Kendra, a command-and-control centre designed for data-driven decision-making and real-time monitoring of farming, farmers’ activities, agro-marketing along with all inclusive extensions.
