Cuttack, Dec 8: At least three people were injured in a horrific car accident near Ramkamarpur Bazaar, located on the Cuttack-Paradip road, early this morning. The crash was reportedly caused due to dense fog.

Sources say the car, travelling through the region under the jurisdiction of the Kishannagar police station, lost control and crashed into an electric pole due to dense fog. The impact of the collision left the driver and two passengers with serious injuries. Residents, who witnessed the incident, immediately rushed to the scene and pulled the injured individuals out of the car. They then shifted them to safety and got them medical assistance as quickly as possible.

The three victims were later sent in a critical condition to Cuttack's SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Doctors at the hospital are currently attending to their injuries, though their conditions remain critical.

The Kishannagar police arrived immediately at the site of the accident, seized the vehicle, and began an official investigation into the cause of the crash. While dense fog is believed to be a major contributing factor to the accident, police are continuing their inquiry to determine any other possible causes, such as driver error or vehicle malfunction.

The accident has raised serious concerns over road safety, especially during the winter months when fog often reduces visibility to dangerous levels. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extra caution during early mornings and late evenings when fog is typically more prevalent.

Further details are awaited.
