Nayagarh, Feb 4: Tension erupted in Belpada village, under the jurisdiction of Gania police station in Nayagarh district, after the body of a missing schoolboy was discovered in a well today.

The deceased, a 10-year-old fifth-grade student of Belpada Primary School and son of Vijay Mallick, had been missing since after school hours. His body was found in a nearby well this morning, sparking shock and grief in the community.

Upon receiving the news, police arrived at the scene and seized the body for post-mortem examination. Family members have alleged that the boy was murdered and then dumped into the well. In response, they filed a written complaint at the Gania police station, demanding a swift investigation and the arrest of the perpetrator.

Angry villagers, enraged by the tragic incident, blocked the Gania–Bhubaneswar road, demanding immediate action. The blockade caused severe traffic congestion, with hundreds of vehicles stranded for several hours.

Police officials have arrived at the scene to calm the protesters, assuring them of a thorough investigation. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with the local community demanding justice for the young victim.
