Dhenkanal, March 14: An engineeering student of Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Sarang in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district went missing in the River Brahmani on Thursday.
The missing one has been identified as Sanat Kumar Mahalik, a final year BTech who is a resident of Balasore.
Sources said, Sanat had reportedly gone to take a bath in the Brahmani, a few kilometers away fron the college, in the afternoon. Meanwhile, he was swept away into the deep water due to strong current. Instantly, he went missing in the water.
On receiving the information, the Parjang fire brigade reached the spot and launched an operation to trace him.
Search operation is underway, the sources added.
