Kandhamal, May 30: A swift action by the Border Security Force (BSF) 99-Battalion today thwarted a significant Naxal attack and led to the recovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) during a combing operation in Kandhamal district.

Acting on credible intelligence inputs, a search operation was launched from COB Pahireju, targeting the forested area near Tilkapanga village of Pahireju panchayat under Gocchapada police limits.

BSF personnel, in coordination with local police forces, swiftly moved to the designated area and conducted an extensive search operation. As a result, an IED was recovered. Prompt action was taken to alert the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), who expertly dismantled the IED, neutralizing a significant threat to security in the region.

The timely and effective collaboration between BSF and local law enforcement agencies underscores the commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.
