Puri, Feb 7: Police on Wednesday arrested two drug peddlers from Puri and seized brown sugar weighing around 522 grams from their possession. The cost of the seized contraband is said to be around Rs 50 Lakh, informed Puri SP Pinak Mishra.
The two accused have been identified as Debasish Das of Gurujangha village in Odisha’s Khordha district and Subham Patnaik of Saguan Bagicha village.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the dealing of the contraband near Talabania in Puri, a special squad of Puri police conducted a raid and arrested the two peddlers and seized the contraband. However, another drug peddler managed to escape from the place.
The two accused have been forwarded to Court. Police have also seized two bikes and two mobile phones from them.
“Stringent action will be taken against those who are involved in this racket. Further investigation is on to ascertain more details in this regard, added SP.
