Dhenkanal, March 17: In a tragic incident in Dhenkanal, a youth was critically wounded after a rogue tusker trampled him under its foot on Tuesday.

The incident took place at Govindpur area in the Dhenkanal district in the evening.

According to report, one Bidyadhar Behera was coming back to Talabarkote village from Dhenkanal on his bike. Meanwhile, he encountered a lone tusker on the way near the Govindpur Spinning Mill that chased and trampled him on the road. However, in a close shave he managed to crawl away from the pachyderm despite being blood bathed.

As the rampaging elephant headed to the forest, the victim was picked from the spot and rushed to hospital for resuscitation.

The incident wreaked panic in the Govindpur area as the rogue elephant with its herd, are yet straying in the village forest.

On being informed Dhenkanal Range official and Sadar Police reached the spot to take stock of the matter.
