New Delhi, August 9: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi extended greetings to the nation, highlighting the deep-rooted “bond of love and affection” that the festival celebrates.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha shared a photograph with his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on social media platform X. In a heartfelt note in Hindi, he conveyed, “Heartfelt greetings to all countrymen on Raksha Bandhan. May the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters continue to grow stronger.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also marked the festival with a message on X. She described Raksha Bandhan as “a symbol of love, trust, and faith between brothers and sisters,” and wished that the sacred occasion brings joy to everyone’s lives.

Raksha Bandhan, or Rakhi, is a traditional Hindu festival symbolising sibling love. On this day, sisters tie a sacred thread (rakhi) on their brothers’ wrists, and in return, brothers offer gifts along with a pledge to protect and support their sisters.
