Bhubaneswar, June 7: The Fire Department personnel on Friday fished out the body of a youth who was swept away while bathing in Hanspal canal on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
The deceased has been identified as Soumya Ranjan Das, a resident of Jagatsinghpur.
As per reports, Soumya was swept away while bathing in the canal yesterday. After being alerted, fire fighters rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation to trace him.
After hours of efforts, his body was recovered today.
On getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
An investigation has been into the matter to ascertain the exact cause behind the youth’s death, said the police.
