JAMMU, September 12:The highly decomposed body of a suspected Pakistani terrorist affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) was recovered from the higher reaches of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said.
Investigators suspect that the terrorist may have been injured during an encounter with security forces last year and later succumbed to his injuries while taking shelter in the dense forested terrain, the officials said.
An US-made M4 carbine and a quantity of ammunition were recovered from near the body, officials said. The recovery of the sophisticated weapon has led investigators to believe that the deceased may have been a senior commander of the Pakistan-based terror outfit.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established, and further investigation is underway, officials added.
