It is pertinent to mention that 4 of the 5 assembly seats in the district are held by the ruling BJD. Only Jaipur Assembly seat and Koraput Lok Sabha seat are in the hands of the Congress. Earlier, this district was known to be  a Congress stronghold. It is believed that senior tribal leader and former MP, minister Jairam Pangi may join the Congress. Will make this the Congress organization stronger?
