Berhampur, Sept 23: A fishing boat reportedly sank near the Aryapalli sea jetty in Ganjam district amid rough sea conditions caused by the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal.

According to reports, the sea has turned turbulent and the water level around the jetty has risen due to the adverse weather conditions.

The fishermen had kept their boats securely tied near the jetty after being advised not to venture into the sea.

However, one of the boats sank as the water level increased around the jetty.

Local fishermen have launched a rescue operation to retrieve the submerged boat. No casualties have been reported so far.

Authorities have advised fishermen to stay away from the sea and keep their boats secured at safe locations as rough weather continues along the coast.
