Bhawanipatna, June 13: Two persons were killed in a horrific road accident after a speeding BMW car rammed into a stationary Hyva truck on the Bhawanipatna bypass road in Kalahandi district late on Friday night.

According to preliminary information, the luxury car crashed into the rear of the truck that was parked on the roadside. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the BMW was completely mangled, trapping the occupants inside.

On receiving information, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation. The team had to cut open the damaged vehicle to recover the bodies of the driver and another occupant. Both died on the spot.

The deceased are believed to be residents of Haryana. However, their identities had not been established till the filing of this report.

Police from Bhawanipatna Sadar Police Station reached the accident site, seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
