Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has identified 21 places in the city for the sale of crackers with the help of the General Administration department.
The BMC has imposed ban on selling of crackers at any other place except the designated sites.
The vendors have been directed to ensure adequate safety and cleanliness around their shops. Every shopkeeper will put two dustbins along with sand and water to avoid fire mishap. The joint squad of BMC, Commissionerate Police and state pollution control board will oversee the firecracker markets.
Besides, all sweet stalls under the BMC jurisdiction will be checked for quality and hygiene. Mobile testing labs will be used for checking quality of food.
Firecrackers that have received approval and certification from the PESO (Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization) are advised to purchase to avoid air pollution.
