Block Education Officer held in Odisha for taking bribe

Koraput, Mar 2: Vigilance sleuths today apprehended Block Education Officer (BEO), Gunupur in Raygada district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe. Vigilance sleuths said that the BEO identified as Antaryami Behera has demanded bribe of Rs 10000 from a retired teacher in order to release pending arrear dues and submit service book for finalization of pension. Accordingly, a trap was laid on Wednesday and the accused was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance. “The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. In this connection a case has been registered and further investigation is continuing,” said an official.
