Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: With the New Year approaching, Nandankanan Zoological park and Botanical Gardens is all set to welcome tourists with exciting new attractions. Authorities have introduced new animals and are enhancing visitor experiences across the park.

As part of an animal exchange program, 19 animals of four different species are arriving from Gujarat on December 10. Among them, five hippos will be making their debut at Nandankanan. The Indian rock python is also expected to draw significant tourist attention. Officials have plans to bring in more animals in the near future, and a newly constructed enclosure has already been completed.

Following the Nandankanan Foundation Day on December 29, visitors will have the chance to see exotic foreign animals in the new enclosure. Meanwhile, the botanical garden is also undergoing development, with a new garden expected to be completed soon.

Tourism officials anticipate higher visitor numbers this season, similar to last year, with tourists expected from across India and abroad. To manage the crowds, additional parking space and ticket counters have been arranged, and security measures have been strengthened. During peak periods, especially from Christmas to New Year, medical teams, fire brigades, and volunteers will be on duty to ensure visitor safety.

Nandankanan’s management said these initiatives aim to offer tourists a fresh and memorable experience while maintaining high standards of safety and convenience.
