Balasore, Nov 29: Ramesh Chandra Sen, former Secretary of Arnapal Service Co-operative Society (SCS) under BBCC Bank’s Bhadrak Branch, has been convicted in a corruption case filed by Odisha Vigilance.

Sen, who had retired from service, was charge-sheeted under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, along with Sections 409 and 34 of the IPC. He was accused of misappropriating society funds by withdrawing money from the SCS’s Savings Bank (Thrift) account maintained at BBCC Bank, Bhadrak, and failing to account for the withdrawn amount.

The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore, found him guilty and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹50,000.

Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance has stated that it will move the competent authority to initiate proceedings for stoppage of pension payable to Sri Sen as per rules.
