Bhubaneswar, July 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has laid out an ambitious 12-year roadmap to transform Odisha into a modern and developed state by 2036. This vision was crystallized during the State Executive Committee meeting on Saturday, said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.
On the meeting's second day, the State Executive Committee approved five key proposals. The primary focus will be on balanced and holistic development, with a strong commitment to corruption-free and transparent governance. A workforce of 12,000 BJP members, ranging from grassroots activists to the Chief Minister, will dedicate themselves round the clock to this mission.
Drawing a parallel with the construction of the Konark Sun Temple, which took 12 years and the efforts of approximately 1,200 workers, the BJP aims to similarly build a new and modern Odisha in the next 12 years. The goal is to realize this vision by 2036, coinciding with the centenary of Odisha’s formation.
During the meeting, the BJP strongly criticized the Congress party, particularly condemning Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks about the Hindu community. The BJP also reiterated its historical stance by observing June 25 as ‘Black Day’ in memory of the National Emergency and praised the central government's decision to officially commemorate June 25 as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas'.
The party expressed its determination to uphold and promote Odisha's pride, or 'Asmita'. A political proposal was presented to safeguard and enhance the state’s identity on a global scale. BJP workers will not only focus on development but also on elevating Odia 'Asmita' worldwide.
The BJP emphasized the importance of both development and the integrity of the developmental process. A resolution was passed to ensure a corruption-free government, with a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. The BJP accused the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government of looting over Rs 50,000 crore annually under the guise of the 5T initiative, making Odisha a hub of corruption.
The BJP has pledged to provide a transparent, corruption-free, and people-oriented government. The new administration, led by Mohan Majhi, will prioritize reaching the most marginalized citizens and will work tirelessly to achieve this goal.
