New Delhi, Oct 12: Ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scheduled to finalize the names of candidates in its Central Election Committee meeting on Sunday.
As per reports, the key meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the party headquarters and will be attended by senior party leaders to discuss election strategy and shortlist candidates for key constituencies across Bihar.
The selection process is expected to be detailed, with a focus on fielding strong contenders in every seat. The saffron party will release its official list of candidates after the meeting.
Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha on Saturday rejected reports of discontent among National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners over seat-sharing for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, stating that talks were still ongoing.
The NDA in Bihar consists of five parties— the BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas) led by Chirag Paswan, HAM(S) led by Jitan Ram Manjhi, and RLM led by Upendra Kushwaha.
Sources say an understanding has been reached in the ongoing seat-sharing talks, with the BJP and JD(U) expected to contest around 200 to 203 seats combined, while the remaining 40 to 42 seats will be shared among the three smaller allies.
According to the tentative seat-sharing arrangement, Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) is likely to be allotted 26 seats, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) may get eight, and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) is expected to receive six seats.
Meanwhile, amid continued delays in seat-sharing talks within the Mahagathbandhan, Congress leaders have expressed frustration and hinted that the party may consider contesting the Bihar Assembly elections independently.
The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, 2025, with the results to be announced on November 14, 2025.
