The action was taken by BJP’s state president, Manmohan Samal, after the party received reports linking its supporters to an attack at the BMC office on Monday.

According to party sources, the five individuals were suspended from the BJP’s primary membership due to their alleged involvement in the assault. Among those suspended is Aparupa Narayan Rout, also known as Jiban Rout, a sitting corporator.

The others facing suspension are Rashmi Ranjan Mahapatra, Debashis Pradhan, Sachikant Swain, and Sanjeeb Mishra. All five have been removed from the primary membership of the party for breaching party discipline.

The suspensions come in the wake of an incident at the BMC office, where BJP workers reportedly assaulted BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo during a public hearing. The incident has sparked political controversy and drawn criticism across Bhubaneswar.
